Integrative Healthcare Reimbursement
One of the most important developments in American healthcare is the growing use of integrative health options like acupuncture, massage therapy, and naturopathic medicine. These therapies increasingly demonstrate better outcomes, often at lower costs, than standard care for many conditions. This is why corporate wellness programs have begun to look at adding these options to their plans. But despite a history of well-documented effectiveness integrative services are rarely reimbursed. Section 2706 of the Affordable Care Act—"Non-discrimination in healthcare—was written to remedy this. Yet compliance in the states continues to be nearly non-existent since this law became effective on January 1, 2014.
