Why Policy Matters and How Businesses Can Make Change!

Time: 5:30pm to 7:30pm Mountain Time
Place: Denver, CO

If you're feeling discouraged by politics as usual, please join friends from the American Sustainable Business Council, B Lab, E2 and the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado for a free Sip-&-Learn Happy Hour on February 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.

Too often, government develops policies and regulations based on advice they get about "what business needs" from those who are NOT running sustainable or triple-bottom-line companies! But that can change.

Policymakers respect the views of business leaders, and when values-based companies DO show up in their state capitol, town hall or in Washington, D.C., it makes a big difference. Politicians listen—and the media does, too. And "what business needs" takes on a whole new meaning.

Good businesses know: It’s better to be at the table than on the menu! And we'll talk about how to make that happen on February 7.

You'll join like-minded business leaders and learn how to:

  •  Express your views successfully in meetings on Capitol Hill or in your state capital;
  •  Have your views explained in the media with an Op-Ed or Letter to the Editor;
  •  Create a strategy for weighing in on policy issues relevant to your core business;
  •  Be prepared to be an effective advocate who can influence policy, even with your busy schedule.

Now more than ever,  it's up to us. Sustainable business leaders have begun to shape public policy, and we're not stopping now!  We'll help you be heard—comfortably and effectively—on climate change, improved wages, health care, sustainable agriculture, public lands, fair tax reform and other issues you know matter.

At Sip-&-Learn Happy Hour, our interactive panel will look at some urgent policy issues, outline effective ways for businesses to get involved, and provide plenty of time for questions and discussion public policy.
