Net Neutrality Signed Into Law in California

On September 30, SB 822 was signed into law by California Governor Jerry Brown. This law will have a positive and considerable impact for all California businesses. SB 822 is the first state-level law that restores the Federal Communications Commission’s 2015 Open Internet order instituting net neutrality protections.

ASBC and our members have advocated for SB 822 because it is a responsible and comprehensive bill that not only reinstates the FCC’s 2015 order for California but provides the California Attorney General with the authority to enforce those rules. Strong net neutrality rules and their enforcement are key to maintaining a fair and open internet, which is paramount for the continued exchange of ideas, job creation, and business growth.

ASBC will continue to advocate for an inclusive internet for everyone. We encourage interested businesses to sign on to our business support statement.
