WASHINGTON, DC (September 5, 2017)–In response to President Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), the American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), which has a national network of over 250,000 member business, released the following statement:

"We strongly oppose President Trump's decision to end the DACA program,” said David Levine, CEO and Co-founder of ASBC. “On economic grounds, the U.S. has long benefited from the hard work and innovative spirit of successive waves of immigration. On humanitarian grounds, these promising and talented young people were brought here as children and America is truly their home at this point. It goes against our fundamental values to expel them at this point.

"Study after study prove that recent immigrants are not depressing wages or jeopardizing citizens from securing work. In fact, the gains to our economy in tax revenues and skills are substantial. Neither campaign rhetoric from President Trump nor bipartisan Congressional failure to address immigration should be the reason for disbanding DACA. Now is the time for Congress to provide citizenship to those classified under DACA.”

The American Sustainable Business Council advocates for policy change and informs business owners and the public about the need and opportunities for building a vibrant, sustainable economy. Through its national member network, it represents more than 250,000 business owners, executives and investors from a wide range of industrieswww.asbcouncil.org
