Responsible Businesses Say Trump Just Released a Toxic Plume over Every Business in America
With approval of Keystone XL and Dakota Access
WASHINGTON, DC (January 24, 2017) – The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), with a membership network representing more than 250,000 businesses, today released a statement criticizing President Trump’s approval of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines. The following statement is by David Levine, CEO and co-founder of the American Sustainable Business Council:
“President Trump just released a toxic plume over every business in America. He is accelerating carbon pollution when he should be reducing it. No business is immune from extreme weather events and other climate-related damage. And for what? A few thousand temporary jobs? To pump the stock of ExxonMobil? That fails the sniff test.”
ASBC has opposed the Keystone project for many years. In 2013, it collected over 1,000 businesses to sign a letter opposing the pipeline extension. The 2013 press release may be found here.
