San Francisco to Offer City Incentives for Benefit Corporations

The Board of Supervisors of San Francisco unanimously endorsed an ordinance to provide a preference for Benefit Corporations bidding on contracts with the City.  This legislation gives added support to corporations that are structured as Benefit Corporations under California State law.  This ordinance, the first in the United States, gives a needed boost to companies that commit to have a material positive impact on society and the environment and which commit to report on their performance using recognized third-party standards.
