David Levine

David is the co-founder and chief executive officer of the American Sustainable Business Council. He has worked as a social entrepreneur for over 30 years focusing on the development of whole systems solutions for a more sustainable society through building strategic partnerships and broad stakeholders initiatives. Previously, he was the Founding Director of Continuing Education & Public Programs at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. From 1984–1997, David was Founder and executive director of the Learning Alliance, an independent popular education organization.

Zach Bernstein

Zach comes to ASBC with a background in issue politics, specifically research and advocacy writing. Before interning at ASBC, he also worked at the political blog ThinkProgress, where he wrote about a diverse range of topics, including health care, economic and environmental issues. He also worked at the good government group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). Zach has two degrees from American University in Washington; an M.A. in Public Communication and a B.A. in Political Science. He currently lives in Washington, DC.

David Brodwin

David combines executive experience in the management consulting field with leadership in advocacy and public policy. Currently, through Brodwin & Associates, he advises clients on strategy and messaging.  Earlier, he was a partner at Accenture, a leading global consulting firm, and VP of marketing at Radius, a computer peripherals manufacturer.  In his nonprofit work, he was president of New Voice of Business and executive director at Rockridge Institute, a think tank that explored political communications. David writes a weekly column on “Economic Intelligence” for U.S. News and World Report and lectures on social change at Golden Gate University.  He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Harvard.

Richard Eidlin

Richard has worked for twenty-five years on sustainable business and policy issues in the public and private sector. Sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility have been his focus. He consulted to the UN Environment Programme and worked in the U.S. solar energy industry. Richard was Business Outreach Director for the Apollo Alliance. During 2008, he co-directed the Colorado Clean Tech for Obama campaign. He was an adjunct faculty member with Boston College’s Center for Corporate Citizenship and a board member of New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility. He currently teaches environmental policy at the University of Denver, serves on the board of Rocky Mountain Employee Ownership Center and directs the Greater Good Academy. Richard earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of Wisconsin and a B.S. from the University of Maryland.

Sean Griffin

Sean brings almost a decade of experience in market research, outreach and client communications, as well as project management. He has extensive experience in consumer-based and business-to-business market research and has created and developed new advertising, branding, and marketing concepts for several national companies. He brings high energy and a positive attitude to all his work. Sean holds a BS in Marketing from the State University of New York at New Paltz and currently lives in Washington, DC.

Kathleen Hutton

Kathleen has over 17 years of non-profit experience working for environmental and university institutions. She has held various analytical, technical, and stewardship positions within development, communications, and marketing departments. Before joining ASBC, Kathleen was the Website and Social Media Manager for Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences. Kathleen holds B.A. degrees in Russian from the University of Illinois and in Slavic Languages from the University of Massachusetts. While working as an Information Analyst for Harvard University, Kathleen attended the Extension School for graduate work in Computer Science.

Elliot Jackson

Elliot Jackson has worked extensively with a range of leading consulting firms involved in both sustainable development and communications. From the mid-1980s to mid-1990s he was Commercial Finance Director of a leading European communications consultancy. He also has experience working as an accountant in both the retail fashion trade and property development. He was a founding member of the UK PRCA’s finance director forum within the PR industry and became a member of the Consultancies Management Committee that provided a wide range of advice to agencies of all sizes.

Iva Kaufman

Iva Kaufman has built institutions and coalitions throughout her career in international development, non-profit management, and advising in philanthropy. She applies a holistic approach to resource development and social impact investing across the public, private, and corporate sectors. Iva has expertise in managing wealth, grant-making, fundraising, sponsorship, and cause-related marketing. She was among the first to apply digital media production to build community through media, arts, and culture. Iva works on consulting assignments, startups, and the enhancement of established ventures in the non-profit sector, business, and philanthropy. Recent assignments involve environmental NGOs and women’s initiatives – in particular the GreenWorld Campaign and the Counseling Center for Women in Israel. Iva is a graduate of the University of Chicago.

Bryan McGannon's picture

Bryan McGannon

Bryan brings to ASBC a broad background in issue advocacy and political campaigns.  He was State Director in Ohio for the Alliance for Climate Protection's Repower America campaign, and served on former Vice President Al Gore's initiative to pass comprehensive climate and clean energy legislation. In that role, he developed a cross-constituency outreach campaign and led a team of 13 to implement the program.  Bryan's political campaign experience spans presidential campaigns (2000 and 2008), congressional races, and local ballot initiatives.  In addition Bryan has nearly a decade of experience in Washington, D.C. in advocacy roles.  Bryan holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego and lives in Maryland with his family.

Jen Ocean

Jen is a seasoned administrative professional with a decade of experience managing day-to-day operations of private sector firms, government contractors, and non-profit organizations, including serving as the Executive Assistant to the President & CEO of an international trade association. She comes to ASBC from the National Wildlife Federation’s National Advocacy Center where she managed operations while balancing staff and executive support, developing office culture, and streamlining procedures. In addition to her administrative background, Jen also brings expertise in information technology, database utilization, and data analysis to ASBC. She has also volunteered for and staffed fundraising events focused on conservation and environmental education as well as written for and edited a community newspaper. Jen is currently working towards a degree in business management.

Marc Thibault

Marc has over ten years of sustainable business experience, encompassing green products and comprehensive approaches developed to address current health and environmental challenges. His work resulted in bringing to market CleanWell, the first all-natural antimicrobial technology ever developed, and in founding Green Age 360, a catalyst for green solutions to fully achieve their sustainable potential and a convener for transformational sustainability initiatives. Troubled by the inadequacy of policies and practices failing to protect our communities and our environment, Marc joined the American Sustainable Business Council in February 2010 in which he engages businesses in participating in the policy debate. Prior to embracing the responsible revolution, Marc pioneered forecasting and behavioral models and internet CRMs.

Greta Twombly

Greta’s background is primarily in electoral politics, having worked in campaigns across the country. Her experience ranges from the local level of City Council, to federal races including Congressional and Senate campaigns. Most recently she spent several years in Colorado working for Senator Michael Bennet’s successful 2010 campaign, and a targeted, Red to Blue Congressional race. After driving around the mountains for a few years, Greta made her way back east and joined the team at ASBC. Greta graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in Political Science, and a minor in Economics. She currently lives in Washington, DC.
