Low Country Local First
LLF is the 44th member network of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), a national network of non-profits dedicated to strengthening our local economies. BALLE was formed in partnership with the Social Venture Network (www.SVN.org); BALLE currently comprises more than 80 independently-operated local business networks with more than 30,000 members and totaling over $35 billion in annual revenues. The mission of BALLE is to catalyze, strengthen, and connect networks of local business people dedicated to building long-term economic empowerment and prosperity in their communities.
Several very worthwhile organizations have as their missions the creation of sustainable communities. Most of these are charged with devising smart growth techniques, including best management practices for land use, transportation, water and air quality and protective measures for significant natural, cultural, and historic resources. LLF’s overall mission, and its two initiatives, Buy Local and Eat Local, complement these efforts to develop sustainable communities. However, LLF is the only organization in the Lowcountry that serves as a catalyst to strengthen and connect networks of local business people dedicated to building long-term economic empowerment and prosperity in its community.
